No way. There is no reason that the American Indians should have been pushed off their land. That is just a perfect example of the people of the time thinking everything belonged to them and they had a 'right' to take it.

If god exists how would you know it wasn't a god given right? If he doesn't exist then no it was obviously not a god given right. Now, if you wish to discuss whether what happened to the Native Americans was a bad or good thing that is different.

Manifest Destiny said nothing about killing all the Native Americans. I get it you have an issue with Americans, maybe you are one and have some sort of self loathing issue going on, Maybe your of another nationality and have a major inferiority complex I'm not sure, but take your pathetic attempts to trash the U.S. elsewhere.

No. I don't think there is any excuse for killing, and using god as a reason for murder is pathetic.

According to wikipedia... Manifest Destiny is a phrase that expressed the belief that the United States had a mission to expand, spreading its form of democracy and freedom.

I don't agree that it should be the basis of American foreign policy ever, also as recently as the cold war, and under Bush in Iraq.

On the other hand it just appears to be a natural cycle of history... dynasties rise, they leave a trail of rape pillage and plunder in their wake -- then they fall.

I just hope that whatever next dynasty rises... they treat us kindly, because we certainly don't deserve to be treated kindly.

    re: comments
"God Given right" -- it is a matter of faith -- religious justification often lies at the root of most crimes against humanity. I'm one of those people that takes comfort in the idea of a world without religion -- it would probably be a much more peaceful place if people chose to love everybody, instead of just their own kind.

Of course not, we should have tried to coexist with the natives or leave their land. We were like uninvited guests in a house who slaughtered the hosts and stole their home. Now look at how trashed this land is. The wildlife are low in numbers, the pollution is dangerous, and what is left of the natives are small indian reservations. Is it my God given right to go to Australia with as many weapons as I want, kill 95 % of the people there, steal their land, and resources and tell others how to live? I have God given free will to do that but I'd probably end up in hell.

I disagree with manifest destiny in that I have no evidence in which to make me beleave that god wished the natives to be raped and killed and such and even less evidence that americans came to america and found it. The uk did that lol. :) I do however think that the native americans should realize that they're not getting their land back. I mean, do they really think that they'd just give up a whole country, let alone two? I'm sorry if that offends anyone but that's just my opinion.
