Why do you have to go to school to get a drivers license but not to get a marriage license or have kids?

Bad driving can kill other inocent people let alone yourself, hence the need for training. Mind you some form of training for having kids would be good too.

Some religions do make you go to couples counsling before you get married. And well having kids is just a part of life, parenting is sappose to be instictual, but some parents do need it! Driving school does teach you a lot of useful things and a car can be a deadly wepon, so we need to learn how to drive them responsibly.

this question is awesome i have pondered it myself .. it's an awesome concept but unfortunately schooling to have children and get married is not in the near future ...so i highly recomend a career as a psychiatrist or counselor because after the damage is done they make their money by working the kinks out for you .

Yep, hence the comment training on raising kids would be good, particularly since they don't come with instruction manuals.

Having children is an inalienable right. Driving is a privilge. I agree some people don't need to be having kids, but who are we to take that right away from them.

It would be impractical and impossible to enforce a requirement for schooling before marriage and/or children. That is obviously not true about driver's licenses. However, the question of course makes an excellent point. It's actually something that many people have asked/wondered.
