  • I do not have solar power, but i will attempt to give you a personal observation. On the surface, solar power appears to be the only way to go to save energy and money. I see drawbacks: The sun does not always shine, especially in many parts of the world. Upstart costs are expensive and you may never recover these costs over the long run. I compare the use of solar energy to an automobile thats run on batteries. They are both expensive and rarely live up to their original intentions.
  • solar power is the best way to go if you want to lower your energy bills and do your part to save the planet. i used to have a home with a pool which i heated solely with a solar panel (black) which was installed on one roof of my l-shaped home. it cost $3500 and it worked like a charm. my pool was in the high 70s for most of the summer, and the pool itself didnt get a lot of direct sunlight. the only cost to run it was the cost of running enough electricity to pump the water to the roof for it to be heated by the panels. very cheap & environmentally friendly. :) i will soon be installing solar panel roof tiles in my new home. photovoltaic systems have become cheaper, more efficient, and a whole lot better looking in the past few years. i anticipate drastically lowering my energy bills after they are installed. heres a link to a site that can help you calculate average costs: http://www.solar-electric.com/solar_system_costs.htm
