How different are the usage of in and after? What's the difference between the following two sentences - In five years, VS. After five years, he will buy a new house. When does the initiating point of the reference time start in each sentence? plz help!

    Wow, this is a good question actually! Even I'm not sure.. They mean pretty much the same thing, obviously. To me, 'in five years' is more specific, referring to a certain point in time, whereas 'after five years' is more general, allowing for the event or whatever to happen at any point after the five years has passed. Hope this helped! :)
