They wont charge you with theft, but they will probably try to contact the rental company to let them know. The rental company will most likely charge a penalty fee for it. Cops wont really care unless they see it or there is a report that that car was stolen. I'm not 100% sure on that question though. Best thing, don't do anything illegal. :)
ummmm. yes they could, maybe tell them your renting the car.
