Godfather 2 There is no question about it. All of the above answers, although opinions, are incorrect.

The Dark Knight. Batman Begins was great, but the sequel, The Dark Knight was absolutely amazing. Kill Bill Vol. 2 as well was superb. That ending dialogue given by David Carradine at the end about Superman was brilliant:

"As you know, l'm quite keen on comic books. Especially the ones about superheroes. I find the whole mythology surrounding superheroes fascinating. Take my favorite superhero, Superman. Not a great comic book. Not particularly well-drawn. But the mythology... The mythology is not only great, it's unique. Now, a staple of the superhero mythology is, there's the superhero and there's the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic Superman stands alone. Superman didn't become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red "S", that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears - the glasses, the business suit - that's the costume. That's the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent. He's weak... he's unsure of himself... he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race. Sorta like Beatrix Kiddo and Mrs. Tommy Plimpton."

The only sequel to better it's predecessor is Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Better than the first. No other sequel can take that honor.

This is a hard one (so to speak). Either Alien3, which is extremely underappreciated, or Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Anyone on here who knows me even slightly will know that I'll say Halloween II...not just because it totally traumatized me when I was 11, but also because I like the idea of having a sequel which occurs directly after the original, even if it's a whole lot more violent than the first, sort of eschewing what made the original famous to begin with. :/

Still, best variation of the Halloween theme song, ever.

The Empire Strikes Back, probably the greatest.

Terminator 2 and Alien 2 (Aliens) were pretty good too as they virtually topped the prequels.

I thought Hellboy 2 was better than the first.

Lord of the Rings 2 and 3. Ok the story was truncated and there was stuff that shouldn't have been there, but what a fantasy trip...plus Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom and various other Middle Earth hunks....

Back to the Future parts 2 and 3 which in my opinion are basically one film split into two parts.
Other than that pick one of Terminator 2, Empire Strikes Back, Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, Die Hard 2, Beverly Hills Cop 2 and problably even more! My opinion on this changes every day!
