  • Perhaps you did not signal long enough before you switched lanes. Cause you need to wait about 2 sec after signaling to change lanes. Also if it was near the end of the month then police hand out more tickets to meet their quota, so maybe you were just unlucky.
  • I am not sure, possibly you should have asked that question to the police officer who issued the ticket.
  • I might have asked him, but he was yelling at me. "What's your problem!!" (and not really accepting that I said nothing) After throwing my ticket at me he turned around back to his car.
  • It's also illegal to change lanes in an intersection. Is it possible you did this?
  • i don't know, maybe the cop was having a really bad day.
  • I once got pulled over and he claimed he could have written me a ticket for reckless driving but was but had too much paperwork. I took a legal right, he was pulling out and wasn't paying attention and almost hit ME. He was just pissed (and let know just how pissed...a total jerk). Perhaps this cop was pulling out onto the street where you changed lanes. If that were the case, you should dispute it as HE would have been in the wrong. Also, cops should not be talking rudely too you. They many times have recorders and if you are sure he was being obnoxious, they can usually use these in courts to prove your case. (Just be careful as sometimes your perception of what happened was different than what actually happened.) In the end, cops are people too and make mistakes. However, they need to be held accountable to a higher standard and if this is a recurring theme for that cop, he needs to find a new job.
  • It is also possible that you changed lanes when there was a solid white line between the lanes. They often put these around curves, and it is illegal to change lanes when they are present.
  • is there a law that say you can't cut a cop bc today I signaled my left lights atleast 2 secs and cut a cop. then he gave me a ticket for change lanes not in safety. is that reasonable???
  • At the time of the traffic stop, did you ask the officer about this? You should have.
