  • I don't know all of her values but the comment 'Pray away the gay' seems to fit in with Republican values.
  • I think she probably cares and raises her family well. And having a daughter who is pregnant is not something I hold against her. However, I would question her on a couple of things. I do not believe that the religious fundamentalism that she espouses suggests that she encourages critical thinking. I think I would bring my children up to question everything and love them whether they chose to embrace Islam, Christianity, atheism, or any other religion. I also wonder whether her religion would be unconditionally supportive if one of her children deviated from her rather narrow morality. For example, would she continue to embrace and support a child who was gay? Would she support a child's right to choose to have an abortion. Probably not! Bottom line. Family values for me imply pretty much unconditional love, and I suspect she does not offer that. But pehaps that is what "Republican" family values are about!
