I think if it is nonsense, but has been getting response, let it go! Community members can be nonsensical once in a while!

I agree!!!:):)+++++6:)

My thoughts are... you have to get used to it. The staff has a whole lot of moderations to fish through, and so, unfortunately, incorrect flags inevitably pass. I have had to reinstate questions and answers, including my what do I look like pictures, because someone was feeling vindictive, passive aggressive, or point hungry. No matter for all that. I only hope the system can continue to improve such that I can be aware when my helpful material gets rejected. I also do not wish to dwell in the negative because I know that the AB admins are committed to running this site as effectively as possible.

I think that once a question is answered by at least three people the nonsense flag option should be grayed out for just anyone to flag it and could only be flagged by a CL or staff member.

I've experienced this a time or two myself. But just because a question is well received that doesn't necessarily make it a real question. I've seen many statements get responses but that doesn't turn the statement into a legitimate request for information. Moderators are far from perfect but there are many cases where they have to sidestep what is popular for what is right.

And, quick suggestion, would all the "origin of the russian name..." and "origin of the japanese name...." posts at the end of the "unanswered questions" list be considered spam? I mean for crying out loud. I go in there to try to answer old questions, and there's like a bajillion of those things.

some good gets thrown out with the bad.

Nonsense questions are nonsense regardless of how many people answered them. Same thing applies to spam/offensive questions. I've seen a few questions later marked as spam/offensive... and no less than AB-Rich himself answered those questions. The number of answers is not an indication that a question is acceptable.

The same as it was last year when I kept fighting battles about that subject. I gave up..too exhausting. Some people are incapable of seeing humor in whimsy..some are incapable of differentiating between the nuances in word choices that make an "apparently" same question entirely different. You cannot teach them, you cannot train them, you cannot appeal to logic/reason..that's how they are wired and there is absolutely nothing one can do to change that. They have the power. That's it.
-
If they would find another word instead of nonsense, it would have been more acceptable..
-
I think they should make allowances for different levels of education. To some, nonsense might be quite important.
-
Some people have difficulty in wording their question. It seems right in their heads as they know all the facts, so I wouldn't necessarily call them nonsense.
-
I think some people just get carried away with moderating.:)
