I listen to the entire CD. Most of the time the best songs aren't the hit singles.
The whole thing.
I usually skip the hits the first few times (if there were any), as I already know what they sound like.
i completely agree w/ Ed the Jetpacking Headbanger.
The whole thing. Most albums I buy aren't lucky enough to have a hit song.
I haven't bought a CD in years, but when I used to, it had to have at least 3 songs I liked before I would pay for it. It is so much betterthese days with iTunes: I just buy what I like, and sometimes I still buy a complete collection.
I always listen to the whole album, at least once. You always have to dig through the dirt to find the hidden gems. :-)
the whole CD
I usually listen to the song I wanted a number of times before listening to the whole CD and ending up disappointed.
Lately I've been buying CDs that lack a hit song (or if there was one, I hadn't heard it marketed), so I'll listen to it all the way through.
I, too, listen to the entire CD -- just to see where the hit song may be in the line-up.
+5
I listen to the whole thing, usually more than once. Often, the songs that I like aren't the hits and require more than one listening to really appreciate.
i listen to the hit a few times then listen to the whole thing to see what else catches my fancy.

You're reading When you buy a CD, do you listen to the hit song all the time or do you listen to the whole thing first to see what other songs you may like?

The hit singles are always nice, but the hidden gems are always better, sometimes much better. :-)
