  • I saw a car doing a flip. I got out, phoned 911, and helped the guy out. He was ok with a broken arm. It was a really an experience to remember.
  • I witnessed 2 accidents from inside. Not fun. Had to go to the ER both times. I freaked when I saw my own blood streaming from my head. Dont mind blood but when its coming from me it can be a scary scene for others around.
  • I ran up and helped ... not always the smartest thing to do .. I was soked in gasoline that was dripping from the car and the women had neck injuries.. If you dont know what you are doing you can make it worse...prob best to call 911
  • Yes..when I was about 12, I witnessed a head on collision between a truck and a station wagon with a family of 4 inside. There were no survivors. I had nightmares for years.
  • A number of times unfortunately. If I am first, I ask if I check to make sure that no one is injured. If so, I take appropriate action (first aid, calling for help, comfort). If the driver still has the car running, I advise him or her to turn it off. Most often, all I have had to do was check and make sure everything was OK, if anyone needed to use a phone, or if I was needed as a witness (I never have been). I have directed traffic a couple of times until the police came. Just the usual stuff. Most of the time, other people are already assisting by the time I stop and I just get out of the way.
  • Guy ran a red light, totalled my car and injured me, and I said "Praise the Lord!" because I'd just dropped my kids off at school and they weren't in the car.
  • With all of the hours a day I spend on the streets, I have witnesses multiple traffic crashes, most of them minor but others are serious. One incident I witnessed was a police chase in progress in florida, I was not the pursuing officer I was at an intersection stopping traffic. The pursuit was traveling at a reported speed of 110 MPH and approaching my intersection. The suspect vehicle was passing through my intersection with Police vehicles close behild. The suspect vehicle enetered the intersection and hit a rised surface in the roadway and the vehicle was now airborn then struck the pavement and skidded sideways then struck a store front approx: 300 feet away from me. the Suspect driver was ejected from the vehicle as it struck the store front and he came to rest in the middle of the road. the vehicle overturned inside the store and came to rest on its roof midway into the building. the passenger was trapped inside the vehicle amoung the twisted sheetmetal and concrete and other materials. I notified dispatch of the incident as I ran over to the driver and placed the driver in handcuffs, then enetered the heavly damaged building and made my way to the twisted vehicle and discovered the passenger struggling for every breath he could get. There was no emmidiate danger of explosion so I Remained with the passenger until EMS, and Fire rescue arrived then assisted them with the extrication process. I stayed with the passenger two and a half hours until he was freed from the vehicle. he was transported to the hospital then later to the county jail.

  • Three major ones; two of them from inside the car. The first, I crawled up out of the door with the help of my stepdad and waited for the ambulance. The second I checked on my wife and helped her out of my door; we both walked away despite landing on our roof. The third was at the end of my road as I was heading to the dump one day. Pickup in a ditch rolled on it's roof, one person out but walking wounded, other person semi-trapped but no real injuries. However the 3/4-car in the other lane... engine nowhere to be found, driver was in the back seat bloody and banged up and in shock. I could see her collarbone. The car wasn't smoking, flaming, or leaking gas so I told her to remain still; she wanted to move but her neck looked like it was at an awkward angle. My wife kept her company until the ambulance arrived while I tended to the truck's occupants. The husband was annoyed with OnStar for not knowing that he was in an accident with airbag deployment, but we live in a rural area with spotty cell-phone coverage so I wasn't surprised. The wife had a hurt leg so I let her sit in my van's passenger seat until medical help arrived. The driver of the car didn't make it.
  • when i was 9 i saw a truck flip over on the street behind my house it rolled over 3 times before stopping. I told my mom and she called 911.
  • Several unfortuntely. One time a guy ran a red light and slammed into this car that was turning right. The car spun several times before slamming into my car. I could do nothing as i had a red light. I jumped straight out to help the poor lady who's car had spun into mine, she was fine thankfully. As for the driver of the car that shot the red light, boy, did i have a few words for him.
  • I was driving home about 6 mos ago, from my son's home. I took back roads and not sure why I came to a stop sign and there was one SUV in front of me. All the sudden I saw a car go airborne and end up nose first into the yard to the right of me. I put my flashers on, jumped out of my vehicle. I was then approached by the guy who was driving the SUV. He had a compound fracture of his Tibia, and was in shock running around saying "OMG its not my fault someone help me." I MADE him sit on the sidewalk and told him not to walk. Then ran over to the car that had no windows left, except broken odd shaped glass. The rear tires were blown out and it was nose down. The driver who was alone looked at me as if to say HELP ME.He was covered with blood, and even though he had a seat belt on his head had hit the windshield, so his nose, and mouth were bleeding. All he said to me was "he jumped the stop sign." Told him that was not important now, and checked his pulse which was rapid as was his breathing. I stayed with him what seemed for hours but I did calm him down.I asked him what hurt and he kept saying "my left side." I did not have a cell phone. Next thing numerous people began to gather and I screamed for them to call 911. I knew I had to hold traction which means hold his neck in case it was fractured, but his doors were smashed in as were his windows. Automatically I tried to get in a window but no way. So ran to the back of the car, the window was shattered partially, and the glass that was there, was jaggered. Then I noticed gasoline leaking out and some stupid man watching was smoking. I demanded he put out the cig and told the group to back off, go home. As I looked at the back window I knew that was my only way into his back seat. I crawled thru it feeling the glass cutting parts of my body but didnt care. I got to the back seat and held his neck still and he said "you're crazy" LOL. Seemed forever till help arrived. I had to remain holding his neck for close to 2 hours while they used the jaws of life to get to him. As they took him away he said"thank you." I was all in control till I got home and began to shake. I picked glass out of me for weeks. The SUV driver had to have surgery for his leg fracture. The other kid (college age) was air lifted to a trauma center, and his injuries were life threatening. Thank God he made it but was in critical condition for days, but NO broken neck..whew..Never could find out his long term prognosis :(
