How do a lot of designers end up designing clothes with similar trends each season? Are they imitating someone or is it just instinct?

First of all, designer do alot of the same things every season. Winter tends to be rich colors and luxurious fabric with a little winter white thrown in, and spring is always light, tropical, and lately a little bohemian. It's not that hard to guess what the majority will do. Designers also tend to shop with the same fabric dealers as other. Hence the fact that Spring 2004 had an enormus amount of coral and turquiose. Most designers have other friends that are also in the industry so they probably bounce ideas off of each other too.

Designers use companies called Fashion Forecasters. The Forecasters research silhouettes, colors, textures from all over the world and then sell their findings to designers.

i think its because people conform... and designers just want to make clothes that people want to buy.. so they just make whats fashionable.... its nothing to do wiht passion for clothes.. its a stupid industry! x
