    Jot's etymology:

Middle English jote, from Latin ita, iota, from Greek, iota, of Phoenician origin, Common Semitic noun *yad-, hand. 1a. iota, jot, from Greek ita, iota; b. yodh, from Hebrew yd, yodh. Both a and b from Phoenician *yd, hand, tenth letter of the Phoenician alphabet.
