That depends on who you ask. My (Christian) Church teaches that Christianity is the teachings given by God to the first people on Earth, Adam and Eve; that over time, the teachings were rejected by the people as a whole; and that was restored by God, through prophets, each time the people were once again ready to accept Him and His teachings. According to this belief, most if not all other religions are ultimately offshoots of Christianity, if you trace it back far enough. Others will tell you that it is an offshoot of Judaism started by Jesus of Nazareth and/or His followers, about 2,000 years ago. According to this belief, the teachings of Christianity did *not* predate Judaism but rather grew out of it and/or replaced it. If you’d like to know more about Christianity, I’d recommend watching the video at http://tinyurl.com/oursavior . The whole site is full of answers to various questions, and there’s even an “Ask a Question” link that will connect you to a 24/7 live chat feature. (Recognize, however, that the teachings represented at this site are those of one Christian Church; there are tens of thousands of others out there, each preaching what they deem to be the truth. Kind of scary, idnit?) HTH!

Well, some people have different views on this. But as far as I know Christianity really began after Jesus was cruxified and it really became established with the teaching of St Paul who didn't know Jesus.
