I saw a form requesting a check w/my full name printed on it lying on my boss' desk. I didn't print it. I called accounting & asked if they got it; they didn't but she called my boss & told him I was looking for it. He gave me a warning. Is he right?

In a business office, it is never a good idea to take a question to a third party. If you wanted to know about what you saw on your boss's desk, you should have asked him then and there.

Yes. You overstepped your bounds. You should have said nothing. It was on your boss' desk - not intended for you to see.

He is right. Your long nose not only caused you to get a warning and probably a check canceled also. It was none of your business until the check printed and was in your hand. Sorry about that.

It is unclear, did you see a request for a check for you like a bonus check, or was it like a reimbursement check in your name for expenses you didn't submit? If you suspect fraud, you should report the concerns to the proper authorities. If you were nosy and just seeing things that weren't supposed to be public yet, consider it a lesson learned.
