Rocker panels are the piece of metal that is directly below the door of an automobile.

They are the panels that cover the valves on a overhead valve engine, they contain the valves and the push rods which open them, it prevents the oil from squirting out of the engine, this is what they are called in the UK not America as they are something different over there
