Question

Help answer this question below.

If right-handed people use the left hand side of their brain and left-handed the right side of their brain and each side of the brain is responsible for the ability to do different things, then what about people who are true ambidexters?

You are not correct in your original assertion. All people use both sides of their brains, but for some unknown reason the brain is crossed over, so that the right hand is controlled by the left side of the brain and the left hand by the right side of the brain. Someone who used only one side of their brain would be like a stroke victim - only half of their body would work.

However, some of the higher brain functions, like creativity, emotionality, rational thought etc. appear to be focussed on one half of the brain or the other. Note that not everybody has the same positions - it is only on average that one side is creative and the other side rational. The understanding of this is still very woolly, though brain science is advancing very fast at the moment.

i know that when someone has a brain injury on the left side of the brain, and experienced a loss of movement on the right side, you can still be right handed. trust me, i had to do it. i had to write with my left hand and it was not pretty. i tried to be ambidextrous but couldn't do it.

Many ambidexters are highly intelligent and talented. I would say that they are geniouses in the making.

Apparently, people who are 'truly ambidexterous' have mental processes that have no obvious preference for one particular side of the brain. That doesn't mean ambidexterous people use more of their brain or anything like that.. it just means that the processes involved in creativity and reasoning take up slightly different areas of their brains than the brains of strongly one-handed people.

Sorry if that didn't help much, I tried not to be confusing..
