Question

Help answer this question below.

Please help with this math problem.

I'm attempting to solve linear equasions.

6X+4Y=17 and 2X+5Y=20

I found X to be .2272727273

Plugged it in for x.

6X+4Y=17
6(.2272727273)+4y=17
1.363636364+4y=17

And now I'm stuck. How do find Y?

    Since you know that x = .22727 you did the hard part!

    Starting from where you left off:
    1.363636364 + 4y = 17

    subtract 1.363636364 from each side to get

    4y = 15.636364

    divide both sides by 4 to get

    y = 3.909091

    Solved using Linear Equation calculator from here: http://www.algebrahelp.com/calculators/equation/

    Simplifying
    6x + 4y = 17

    Solving
    6x + 4y = 17

    Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

    Add '-4y' to each side of the equation.
    6x + 4y + -4y = 17 + -4y

    Combine like terms: 4y + -4y = 0
    6x + 0 = 17 + -4y
    6x = 17 + -4y

    Divide each side by '6'.
    x = 2.833333333 + -0.6666666667y

    Simplifying
    x = 2.833333333 + -0.6666666667y

    Simplifying
    x = 2.833333333 + -0.6666666667y

    Solving
    x = 2.833333333 + -0.6666666667y

    Move all terms containing y to the left, all other terms to the right.

    Add '0.6666666667y' to each side of the equation.
    x + 0.6666666667y = 2.833333333 + -0.6666666667y + 0.6666666667y

    Combine like terms: -0.6666666667y + 0.6666666667y = 0.0000000000
    x + 0.6666666667y = 2.833333333 + 0.0000000000
    x + 0.6666666667y = 2.833333333

    Add '-1x' to each side of the equation.
    x + -1x + 0.6666666667y = 2.833333333 + -1x

    Combine like terms: x + -1x = 0
    0 + 0.6666666667y = 2.833333333 + -1x
    0.6666666667y = 2.833333333 + -1x

    Divide each side by '0.6666666667'.
    y = 4.249999999 + -1.5x

    Simplifying
    y = 4.249999999 + -1.5x
