Try 3-in-1 or WD-40 on a cotton bud.

In the old days you always wiped Vaseline all over pattened leather shoes and then wiped them off and that is how you kept them in good condition. Try it and see if you like it.

Three possible suggestions: 1) Baby diaper wipes take almost anything off of most surfaces, including paint. 2) The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works well on scuffs caused by paint. 3) If the scuff is rubber or something you can scrape with a fingernail (without damaging the shoe) and the shoes aren't shiny, you can try those scrubby bristles on top the cap of suede cleaners.

If you meant to say pattent leather shoes, I'd go with the diaper wipe. Everything else will probably damage the shiny finish.
