well for one with 2 subs at 1200 watts each u got a total of 2400 watts with only 1000 watts pushing them wich will cause distortion. ur best bet would be to find a 2000 watt 2 channel amp or get another 1000 watt amp to power each sub seperately.

Those look like "MAX power" ratings to me. Absolutely, under no circumstances, should any piece of audio equipment be graded on "MAX power". These numbers are total bullshit. You will NEVER get 1000 watts max out of a 1000W max power amp. If you connect 1200W to a sub that claims 1200W max, you will very likely utterly destroy it. Look at the RMS power ratings. You're probably looking at a pair of 300 watt subs, and a 400 - 500 watt amp. That being said, yes it will work. The optimal setup would be to find an amp that gives as close to exact RMS power to each subwoofer.

The type of box they're in will greatly effect the sound they put out. Make sure all the seals are good on the box

James and Josh hit this one right on the spot, but do not listen to the third person. They're not reading it correctly and assuming those are RMS ratings, and if you have 1200 RMS per sub then you wouldn't be asking this question lol. 1000 watt amps usually put out about 500-600 watts at one channel at two ohms is what I see most of the time, so at (i'm assuming) 4 ohms, that amp is only putting about 200 watts out to each speaker. Or if you wired it in series parallel (if they're dual voice coil) you could run them at a lower resistance and therefore get more power out of the amp, but it may have a higher chance of heating up. You never mentioned the amp brand, or the model so I can't tell you whether or not it is 1ohm, or 2ohm stable. I'm just once again, assuming it is. As with the box, if you want it to sound loud, I'd recommend looking at the specs on the subs and find out what they like being tuned to if you want to port it (which will make it have the boomier noise, and sound louder), or make sure the box is properly sealed, and has the proper amount of cubic ft per chamber that the sub recommends, all of this effects the quality and sound. Another idea you could invest into, if you want the bass to hit louder is a capacitor. For that amp, I'd get a 1 farad, or 2 at the most. A capacitor will give it a little more juice for the big bass hits, and for every thousand watts is usually recommended to have 1 farad. So a summary: Make sure the box is proper for the subs, make sure your wiring is optimal, the amp is tuned; and just trying to help the newer people out: Don't judge an amp, or speakers on their "Peak" or "Max" ratings... if you were to put 1200 watts through those speakers, i guarantee they would bottom out and distort like all hell, and blow up. Look at the RMS (Root Mean Square). Cheers.
