Question

I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla CE and the light on the automatic transmission is out. I can't see what gear I am in at night. Any idea how I can fix it? Is it a fuse that I need to replace?

Most likely it is a bulb that either jiggled loose or blew. I am not 100% sure how to get into the center console on a '99 though. It's usually fairly simple but check the Chilton's book at your local library if you get stuck.

I rarely look at the shift lever because I learned to go by touch and count clicks/detents. Drive is the third one back. It's a habit from driving stick under circumstances that made it unwise to take my eyes off of the road for even a split second.
