Basically, almost any unshielded metal can pick up radio signals, and anything that has a diode effect will convert AM signals into something recognizable if fed into a speaker. Basically, you must have a fairly powerful AM transmitter close to you, and the speaker cables are picking it up directly. Count yourself lucky that it only your speakers - it has been known for people to pick up radio on the fillings in their teeth. Imagine country radio delivered directly to you skull.

I don't know if you'll be interested in this. But back in the 30's in Idaho they had a station WLW that had a 500,000 watt output. People claimed that they could hear the station through fence wires and their teeth fillings! Also bed springs, and metal pipes.Be grateful your'e only getting the sound through your speakers. And as for the country music--it could be worse--imagine opera!
