Did they really rescue a grown lion in Texas during the middle of hurricane Ike? So you can trust an adult lion during a hurricane more than the ghetto-dwelling thugs of New Orleans during a hurricane? A lion under great stress is nicer than ghetto thug?

Rather than looking at it that way, you should be looking at it in terms of the leadership of the state. Texas' organization was such that they could spare the manpower needed to rescue the lion. New Orleans' and Louisiana's organization was such that they did not know what they were doing and let opportunities to get the people out slip through there hands. It's not that the lion was more valuable than humans. It's that one state had competent leadership while the other did not.
