Do schools in your area put more emphasis on sports than on academic subjects like mathematics, physics and history?

It seems most public schools are that way. Many people will jump in and help a sport but very few will even get up for the math class.

Yes!!! If you're good in sports, you can be the dumbest kid in the school and the teachers will help you pass evry test. Everyone knows your name because your a jock, not because you are smart. Our school district has no room for girls sports, maybe softball. It is so blatant, it makes me sick..

yes. we are graduating more and more kids yearly that can't do basic skills but they can play sports so they get passed and graduate without knowing how to even do things as simple as balance a checkbook. our schools spend so much $ on sports, that we could actually have a surplus of $ left over to be used for "educational" things..they just think sports is more important.

No. Most schools in India do not have a play ground.

I've taught in NE USA and in the south; academics are very important in the NE, especially to parents, while there is far more emphasis on sports in the south than on academics - period
