I have a 1994 honda accord. Could someone explain what a shift lock is and it possible for it to stall the car so that it loses power. I couldn't get the car to start or go in gear for 10 minutes. Then it just started and allow me to put in drive.

a shoft lock is normaly located at the shifter and is a saftey device so that you can't accidently move the car into a gear without first stepping on the brake pedal if this goes bad it is possible that you will not get your car out of gear at all it can be replaced. on some cars there is a "slot" beside the shifter looks like a key hole if you have this you can insert a small screwdriver easliy push down and this will bypass the shift look but you'll have to do this every time you put the car into gear
