  • It depends, what are your SAT/ACT scores? If those are high or decent than your earlier years may not be that important. Were you in any clubs at school, invovled with sports, had a job, or volunteered before you were a junior? If so, then it may not effect how it too much...especially if you carried that into your junior year. Colleges may notice that you didnt do as well your frist school year or two and may even assume that you slacked off, but if your essay and SAT score is good then I'm sure those will be taken into consideration a bit more than they normally would. You still have a good chance of getting into a school since a 3.5 isnt a bad GPA...and many only start counting your junior and senior year, the rest matter, but just not as much. Keeping trying to improve your colelge resume' though, and remember, if you dont get accepted into a college,it's not the end of the world. You can always reapply in the Spring or Summer or , if youre willing, can take some college courses at a Community College for two years and transfer once your grades are better.
  • in response to the first answer.... my sat score the first time was a 1930 im taking them again soon and will hopefully pull my math score up to do even better...Im sure my guidance councilor will mention the fact that I was undiagnosed during the first two years. I am really afraid that they will see my cumulative grade from all four years an immediately pass judgement about me because those first years really hurt that score
  • SAT/ACT scores weigh heavily. I'm guessing you're moving into being a junior? Keep up the good work. Universities consider the junior and senior years as more of a demonstration of how you'll conduct yourself in college. Good luck!! :)
  • Is your high school accredited? English is essential, grammar is a must. And your SAT/ACT scores.... And reading comprehension is essential. Damage? No. Just be honest with your new found love for learning.
  • im actually a senior just started about a week ago so college applications and all that stuff is starting soon... this also affects what colleges i should apply to...should i base them on my junior and later gpa of 3.5 or my cumulative gpa which is below a 3 (yikes)... the types of colleges in these two ranges are very different schools that would be "reaches" for my cumulative gpa would be "likely" for the 3.5 gpa...I appreciate the help and support thanks again
  • I go to a private catholic highschool but i dont know how much that would help
  • Some schools offer you the chance to explain why grades were not good in a certain semester (or year) in a special personal statement section. It is also something you could explain during a college interview.
