  • I have never and will never add my money to the ill gotten earnings of that or any other mega store that has dreams of global domination.
  • Wal-Mart is not in the UK, but we have ASDA, which is now owned by them. ASDA is where I do about 90% of all my shopping and the staff always seem happy (except for the resturant where they are always in a bad mood at EVERY ASDA!). Maybe they are better over here?
  • I never shop at Walmart, mainly cause my brother works there. It's all about Pamida
  • It should be obvious that everyone who works at Wal-Mart tried to get a better job and couldn't, therefore they've got the best job they could find. Not shopping at Wal-Mart would deprive these people--the working poor--of their best choice for learning entry-level job skills and moving up to better-paid positions in the economy. It should also be obvious that everyone who shops at Wal-Mart does so because he can find the best price there and make ends meet on his paycheck. Doing something to eliminate their choices would have major impact on their well-being. It should be equally obvious that--although foreign workers don't live as well as we do--working for Wal-Mart is the best job they can get, otherwise they'd get a better one. Since I have compassion for the poor, therefore, I also shop at Wal-Mart, even when I can afford not to. It's the kind and compassionate thing to do.
  • As bad as the recent reports have been, being an employee of Wal-Mart is a personal choice. There are hundreds of other places those people could have filled out applications and potentially been hired. I do shop at Wal-Mart because of their prices and will continue to shop there as long as their prices are the lowest.
  • I avoid shopping there whenever I can even though it's the closest store to my home. The line-ups are too long - I have better things to do with my time. Their profits don't stay here so they contribute little to our economy especially when you consider that their opening causes other stores to close. The only way they can have low prices is by exploiting workers in less developed parts of the world and I refuse to contribute to that exploitation. They refuse to employ anyone full-time so many employees are dependent on social assistance to make ends meet; lower prices, higher taxes - where's the benefit? There are many other places I can shop where the service is better and the quality of the goods is equal or better and they remember me when I shop there. Check out 'Wal-Mart - The High Cost of Low Price' - it's pretty one-sided but very enlightening nonetheless.
  • I buy from Wal-Mart. I am not proud of it though. I am a little low on money and I like their prices. So, I have little choice where I shop. I don't like how they treat their employess, although I have never seen them mistreat their employess, I have heard many stories about it.
  • This is an interesting video about WalMart on PBS. You can watch it online for free. 90 minutes. No, I do not go to WalMart. I think they are terrible. http://149.48.228.121/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/walmart/view/
  • I hate going into Wal-mart its always a zoo when I go in there and the lines are horrible! I used to work for Sams Club, which is a part of wal-mart I actually liked working there except for the fact that the Supervisors were a bunch of retards. They wouldn't work around my school Schedule at all. And I got accused of a No call no show, when it was a another person with the same first name as me!
  • No, I don't ever shop there. Unfortunately though it is not just Walmart that treats their employees unfairly; there are also many other companies now who are laying off thousands of workers and hiring in new people for less pay and no health care benefits. Say goodbye to unions.
  • I wont shop there too much, I like Target more but both are just places with really good business models so they grow.
  • I shopped there once and it was ghetto as well. I will never shop there again.
  • i hate walmart and xmas!
  • I don't shop at Wal Mart period. They pay sub-standard wages that 10 yrs. ago was not enough to live on. The people that work there end up having to be subsidized by those who get paid more at other business's. Wal Mart buys products from china and other slave labor countries in order to make huge profits, they just don't care about what is right & just. Wal Mart is one of those companies that pays the minimum wage because they can by law. Companies like these would have to be forced by federal legislation to pay a decent living wage as they will not do it on their own or because it is ethical or morally right. They could care less if someone is able to or not able to afford the basic necessities of life on their obscenely low wages.
  • I have shopped Wal-mart since the 1980's when one first came to my area. I go to Wal-mart while on vacation when I need to buy things.
  • I do at times but mostly I shop at Kroger where I work. I get good deals with my card and my employee discount.
  • Ok I m not in love with shopping at walmart but I do go there once in a while. I live in a small town, we do not have a lot of stores. I have to drive to across the river to another state to go to a mall, and it is not a big mall. We would have to go about 140 miles to find anything like Macy's or Nordstrom. The K-mart here is a joke and our Target is about a fourth the size of the ones in the Twin Cities area. There are not a lot of choices here. So yes I shop there from time to time. ALSO, I used to work at a flower shop with a lady who quit after 19 years of full time at that shop. Now after 18 months at Walmart she is making $2 more an hour, so tell me where is she better off?
  • I don't shop at Wal Mart. There's plenty of stores with decent prices that don't treat their employees like $#!%.
  • I'm not a big fan of places like Wal Mart. For the most part all I've heard is that it's not great to the employees and is a terrible thing for small local business, and I like to support the small guy. Not a big fan of businesses seemingly run by The Man. And I personally don't spend my money there, because that is my way of taking action against it.
  • i shop at target my husband works there so get a discount
  • Isn't everybody's boss/company a jerk/monster? If anyone said differently, they would have "sold out to the man"!
  • I would shop at Wal-Mart. I bought my computer, clothes, and several other items there. All good except my bike, which fell apart after 2 weeks/100 miles. I think self-checkout, which is in use at many grocery stores and some Home Depots, would help. The prices alone would encourage me to go there.
  • Wal-Mart is by far one of the worst places to work, for any one at any age. If you are ateenager employeed there your probably pushing carts. Wal-Mart hires new employees and fires the experienced, long term ones, so they cut there pay out's drastically.
  • If someone has a problem with Wal Mart, then they should not work there or quit. I have better things to worry about than if Wal Mart is not nice to employees. There are literally thousands of Wal Marts with millions of employees. If the treatment was so bad, no one would work there. I am not there to witness the goings on, so until they start making huge waves I will continue to shop there and save the big bucks. Let's worry about real issues with real tyrants for now, not whether someone got gypped of their 20 cent raise.
  • I am going to continue to shop at Wal mart for several reasons ... 1) They appear to have the LOWEST Prices besides the dollar stores ... 2) I know several people who would not be able to pay their rent, put food on their table, and take care of their kids if they were not employed by Wal Mart ... Ya' know ; in THIS day and age ; with the economy the way that it is ... ANY job is a good job to have ... +5
