My father-in-law worked for a company back on 1973 had a 401k, left the job and never heard from anyone about the 401k. Now this company called to let us know that his name is coming up in the system that he is owed and annuety. where do i start looking.

    If you mean the company he worked for is calling, contact them. If you mean some other company called, be careful. There are people out there who specialize in locating uclaimed money. If that's what they are, they won't tell you anything unless you agree to give them some of it. On the other hand if you have no way of finding out yourself, part of something is better than all of nothing. Consider the fact you didn't even know the money was there.

    Get as much information as you can from the company and go from there. They should be able to provide you with enough information to get you started.
