What did your first "personal computer" cost? (Mine cost over $10K, had an 8-bit Z80 CPU, 56K of system memory, had dual 390K floppies, and a "daisy wheel" printer! State-of-the-art in 1980.)

My first is one I bought for the use of my contractor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center with Disabled Children's Program federal grant money. Apple III, about $10,000, dual floppies (5 1/2 inch-real floppies). It had a daisy wheel printer with a keyboard, and about 56 k of memory. We had numerous software disks. It was used for several programs and functions. My tracking program for SIDS prevention monitors kept the info on a floppy.(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
We brought it in house after the contract expired and used it for a couple of other purposes until we were allowed to use the State Mainframe. Late Early 1980's.

I personally bought an IBM PS2 with a 20 MG hard drive and a connection to the phone lines for bulletin board use in 1986, cost me abut $2400 with a 24 pin dot matrix printer.
I used the spread sheet function for State Programs budgeting and brought the software into the office for the bean counter's use.
This IBM was my first PC used to access the internet using a State of NE I.D.

The first computer I used was in 1982 in secondary school/high school, it was an Apple II with the large white keyboard. I don't know how much it cost the school to buy, a few thousand pounds I would reckon.

I bought a ZX Spectrum in the Summer of 1983. It cost 300 pounds back then, I'd like to know much that is worth now in 2009.

I think it was either a 386 or 286. My father traded a fax machine for it. I think it was valued at around $1,000.
