Dont care. I also dont care about porch money and kyke or any of the others. It doesnt matter. Everybody just needs to remember the old saying, "sticks and stones" and all that good jazz. Its all part of the pussification of the world. everybody whines, "Oh I'm so offended, somebody needs to stop them from saying that and this and the other thing" Who cares?

I don't really think so. But the most common use of the word was to follow it by n*****, so I could see some people taking it the wrong way.
-
No, but thank you. It's just what i need, another racial slur in this world.
-
No, but since it's often used to describe black people who are educated and/or rich, it would not surprise me. Where did you get this information?

I have lived in Georgia since I was 3 years old - so almost 36 years and I have NEVER heard the word "uppity" used as anything else than to describe someone that is snobby. I have never heard of it used as anything racial.. I think they had to dig deep and far to find that one as being a racial slur! Ridiculous!

It is not. It means a person who is trying to "live" above his/her station in life. It is a cast/class system slur. It could be used racially, but it is not inherently racist.

It may have ORIGINATED as a racial slur, (I'm taking your word for that), but that's not how it's used today. At least I've NEVER heard it used that way, and I've always lived in the south. (Georgia) It just means pretentious,...self righteous,...someone who acts as if they are somehow superior to their fellow man. If you add a racially descriptive word AFTER "Uppity", I can see how that would be true. Then again, if you said "Uppity b*tch", it would be a gender slur. So I think you could say that the SIGNIFICANCE of the word has changed. To Illustrate: Windchimes may have ORIGINATED in Asia as a way to ward off evil spirits, BUT that's not why people in the US hang them.
