Normally the .ldb file should be deleted automatically by the program after closing down the database. It seems that there is an open record that is not saved and maybe the computer shut down. I would try to look at the attributes of the .ldb file and if it is read only, or system, then change it to read/write

First check that all users have delete permissions on the shared folder. Without that, Access cannot delete the LDB file. As to fixing the hung LDB file, your network guy should be able to force it to close and then delete it. If not, a reboot of the server will take care of it.
