  • The communist founded ACLU is a bigger threat to the American way of life than Germany and Japan was in World War II, and all of our enemies, from all of the wars this One nation under God has ever had to fight and destroy. Political correctness is the tool being used around the world to bring down nations one at a time - from within. The desired result - a one world government. And in case you haven't noticed, it's working. Why not get involved, and stop our enemies at the ACLU in any way you can think of. They are now hleping organizations hold protests at the funerals of our troops who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanastan. The protesters carry signs saying "Were glad your son is dead, he was a baby killer." And many other hateful and ignorant statements. They disrupt the burial service by hollering and screaming at the relatives of the dead hero's. Back in the 40's and 50's had anyone done something that despicable, they would not have survived the protest. What has happened to this once great nation? Is it worth saving? If so, somebody better get busy. One thing is certain, the Democrats and Republicans don't have a clue. The ONLY thing they care about is power, and being re-elected. copied from hillbillyhall.com website, and I agree with it wholeheartedly.
  • I believe they are a bunch of power crazy Lunatics!!
  • I think the ACLU is a well-intentioned and necessary orginization that has gone right off the deep-end of fringe causes. Justice and reason have to work hand in hand.
  • They have taken a lot of necessary cases, but they have failed to take a few as well. Just like any group, some good and some bad...
  • I think that they are crazy. They have issues with surveillance cameras in public places. Earth to ACLU, they're PUBLIC places. People are already watching you. Why are cameras any different?
  • I think they are a fabulous organization and I am very greatful for their work. Sometimes I don't agree with their actions, but I believe that they would be there for me if I needed them.
  • They protect the citizens right to utilize the Bill of Rights. That includes people of all or no political stripes. That fact will automatically make them controversial. That, and the fact that they are an easy target of pundits who are probably enemies of liberty. It's along the idea of: ... I will fight to the death to protect your right to disagree with me.
  • The ACLU is the only organisation that is going to keep America sane. They represent you and I ,the ordinary people whos rights could be taken away without thier dilligence. We should be thankful everyday for thier existence for helping us have human rights.
  • Totally overboard!
  • The ACLU should be an acronym for Anti-God Communists and Lunatics United instead of American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU has a history of practices that are intended to destroy the very fabric of a free society. Their practice is destructive to the United States and does not represent the majority.
  • The ACLU is a org that defends freedom in America, I would gladly consider myself a supporter of it.
  • I am a paid member, and my best friend is a worker in the local office. I believe most of the cases they work with are worthy, but I have disagreed with a couple of them. Overall, they do good work, defending the constitution and bill of rights.
  • Over the years the ACLU has championed many causes, some of which pleased me and some displeased me. Of course I'm not the sole judge of their conduct, as witnessed by the many comments here. They support the Constitution but are strangely silent on the 2nd Amendment (gun rights). Yes, they piss off a lot of people whenever they take on a cause some don't like. But then, life isn't perfect and the ACLU, just like other organizations, is made up of people who have personal agendas as well as public consciousness. On the whole I believe in what they are doing and support them.
  • While the ACLU still may have a place fighting for some causes, they have emboldened themselves to think they are a fourth branch of governement or some power broker instead of the organization that they are. I think they have been granted too much power, especially with some of the causes they have been fighting for as of late. I think they are a noble organization that has been taken over by extreme radicals that do not even represent most of their members anymore. Just my thoughts.
  • I have nothing against them.
  • Not very much. A bunch of 2nd rate lawyers afraid to tackle difficult cases.
  • Awesome organization. Like all organizations (and people), it is not above reproach. However, they fight for individual rights and civil liberties to be respected to the letter of the law, no matter how unpopular the individual's particular beliefs or practices are. They aren't out to make friends; they are out to protect civil liberties. Precious few groups nowdays are. The ACLU keeps the majority honest when it comes to individual rights and liberties.
  • That it is an organization that does more good than not good. We have many freedoms preserved because of this organization. It upsets many when their own personal beliefs are not upheld, but the ACLU works on a very basic idea and does it across the board. It is our only real watchdog of fairness.
  • Historically, it had a good run. Now it is only interested in protecting rights if they support their own interests. Conservative positions are rarely supported by the ACLU even when the conservative position is the legally correct one.
  • I believe it is a group that had good intentions, but have been skewed off the road. i am an atheist, but honestly, I don't care if there is a nativity scene up at my local City Hall, or that the 10 commandments are up at a courthouse, lawsuits and issues such as this distract from the real problems of today.
  • As long as people don't understand separation of Church and state, the ACLU will have a reason to stick around. I don't like what they do as far as racial equality though. All they do is create further resentment and redraw arbitrary racial boundaries. It's rather contradictory to acknowledge a difference between people then claim they are equal.
  • I think they are a good concept gone horribly wrong. Some of the clients, causes and cases they represent are beyond shocking.
