  • From the "How to Articles" at the bottom of this page: Make sure that your custody documents are in order and in a place where you can get to them. Call the police right away. Help any investigation by starting to prepare now. Making sure to fingerprint your child is a necessity for all kids--but more so for at risk (of abduction from your ex) children. Make your child aware of the situation in as much detail as he or she can handle Keep a detailed account of information about your ex with your other pictures. If at all possible, get your child a cell phone. Set it to speed dial you and teach them to use 911. Make very sure that they know their phone number and address (include the city and state).
  • You can petition the court to make the drop off/pick up location at a police station. That would probably deter him from being late
  • Make it a public place where his laxity can be documented. I used a YMCA. I see a suggestion as a police station. That would be excellent.
  • Its in the child's interest to have this go smoothly and with maturity (without police, court intervention etc). Explain to him all the above 'alternatives' that can make life a LOT more awkward, then get him to make a CHOICE between those, or simply being there on time, or calling with good excuse of why he cant be. If he's able to do other things in his life 'on-time', then this shouldnt be any different.
  • call the cops!
  • Is it really such a big deal that he brings the children back at the designated time? He is their father after all and he is spending what to him and the children is quality time. Many women use petty pretexts like this to get back at their exes and that is just vindictive and harmful to all concerned. Your children will suffer the most if you use them as pawns in your games and they will probably hate you for it one day. Cut them some slack I say.
