    I'm sure they probably do eventually, but they do have extremely good memory. Elephants are one of the most compassionate creatures in the animal kingdom, and they even mourn the death of family members.

    In intelligence, they are the closest animals to us. So I believe it depends on the individual. As for genetic instinct for survival in such a desolate environment, it is a must.

    They don't forget. They walk miles and miles and never get lost. They always end up in Africa.

    they never forget. i spend a lot of time with elephants in thailand...and unfortunately i spend a lot of time away from them too. they cry when i leave and they run to me when i come back. (and ya, i cry too..)
