If you are wearing a hole in your jeans then you first must know if it is a seam or in the field of the cloth - the field of the cloth is anywhere other than a hem, seam sewn bit. If it a hem or seam then a needle and thread - I would wager a thinner needle would work better through the thick cloth the thicker the needle the more pressure you will need to push it through. May I also suggest a thimble? To protect your pretty little finger tips from the sharp 'blunt' eye end of the needle. If it is in the field of the material you need a patch. Patches now come in iron on variety. however following up with a little needle work will keep the patch on longer. BTW the longer you put of mending the worn spot in your jeans the bigger the spot will get. Also, there comes a time when one must retire the jeans - cotton (the thread upon which jeans are wove) is a natural material that wears out not from the wearing but from the washing.

If you take them in to a good dry cleaners, they may be able to send them to a weaver. I'm not 100% sure they can weave denim. . .but it's worth a try. I used to own a cleaners, and we sent stuff away for people all the time!
