How long should I wait before changing the barbell in my new tongue piercing?

    I had the one that they pierced it in for 8 weeks, and ended up chipping teeth, because i went out of town, and then forgot about to go back to the place. so wait about 4-6 weeks, and then change it to a shorter one.
