  • It is alleged that by 1980, Freddie Mercury began to frequent gay bathhouses and clubs where he met many short-term partners. By 1985 he began a long-term relationship with a hairdresser named Jim Hutton. Hutton, who himself tested HIV-positive in 1990, lived with Mercury for the last six years of his life, nursed him during his illness and was present at his bedside when he died. It’s anybody’s guess as to who infected Freddie with HIV… It could have been Jim Hutton, but it could have been any number of short-term partners he had prior to his relationship with Hutton, in which case; Freddie may have infected Jim!
  • Yeah, I don't think we'll ever know that, though it really doesn't matter. Probably happened at some point in the late 70s or early 80s, before anyone really knew that an epidemic was out there.
