2 reasons. 1 - i said so and i have almost all the power in our relationship. 2 - children with the tendency to obey their parents over the past thousands of years survived whereas those who didn't wandered off and were more likely to be chased by dinosaurs (i know we were separated by millions of years, but, it sounds cooler!).

Do you have $800 to pay rent every month for a place to live and another $200 a month to buy mac and cheese and ketchup and whatever it is that you eat? If so, don't listen to your parents. Move out and get your own place. If not, I think following the rules is a small price to pay for what they are giving you.
