  • No! She is against abortion, even in cases of rape and incest. She is for drilling in the ANWR, and has a record proving she doesn't care for the environment and doesn't believe in the dangers of global warming. She is pro-gun and anti-gay. Not to mention her stand against the addition of polar bears on the endangered species list, and her position on aerial hunting for bears and wolves makes me want to vomit. And, on a side note, I just found out that while she was mayor of Wasilla, she made rape victims pay for their own forensics evidence kits. http://news.bostonherald.com/news/2008/view.bg?articleid=1118416&srvc=2008campaign&position=5 I cannot support someone who's values are so different from my own.
  • I don't believe in her ability to lead a Girl Scout Troupe.
  • If she becomes VP and the President would become disabled or would die we had better damn well support her to lead the country because she would be president and we need to support our President, I didn't say love or like, but support yes. There is no evidence she doesn't have the ability as well as there is no evidence Obama has the ability.
  • I think Palin will make a fine VP and should she need to she will do well as President. She has at least had executive experience as Governor, Obama doesn't have executive experience. Also, it should be noted, Obama is a JUNIOR member of congress. He hasn't even gotten his political feet wet, so what does he know about experience? Biden has more experience than the guy he is playing second fiddle to. At least the junior member of the McCain team is the one with the lesser experience in D.C.
  • I DON'T SUPPORT EITHER ONE OF THEM ALIVE OR DEAD
  • NO! NEVER! The awful bitch isn't fit for any position in government.
  • No, I don't. Now, for anyone wishing to have their minds sufficiently blown out of their ass at rapid fire speed....go to this blog. http://monkeymind19.blogspot.com/
  • I don't trust John McCain so I don't trust who he chooses or anything he may decide to do. This country is in trouble if he gets elected
  • More than I support Senator Biden's ability if the unthinkable happens to Senator Obama. People could die in their 50s as well as 70s. It's an issue one must consider for all the candidates, not just the oldest.
  • Yes I have confidence in her. After all, she is way more qualified for president then Obama is. She governs a whole state. Obama is a "new" senator, the most socialist one at that. So really she has what it takes to run our country.
  • Absolutely not. She has four problems that make her unfit to rule: (1) abhorrent views on many issues, (2) lack of knowledge on important and complex issues, (3) lack of experience, and (4)lack of educational training.
  • Yes, for though she is relatively new to mainstream politics, and has MANY critics, she has the executive experience to step up to the plate. All in all, she has a much better chance of holding her on against Putin than Obama. She speaks plainly and can see through the rhetoric whereas Obama just likes to hear himself talk which would make Putin's job easy.
  • Matt Damon certainly doesn't. -
  • Dear merciful Christ, no.
  • That is a very frightening thought.
  • Look, I'm not voting Republican, but if this past administration has taught us anything, it's that anybody can be President. It obviously doesn't matter who's sitting in the Oval Office, somebody else will run things if they can't. They probably will anyway.
  • Yeah! Go Sarah - George Bush with balls.
  • About as much as I support the manager of the local Starbucks to run the country.
  • Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's Backgrounder http://mensnewsdaily.com/2008/08/29/alaska-governor-sarah-palin-backgrounder/
  • My six year old granddaughter would probably do a better job.
  • I sent this in an e-mail to a friend, titled "Why I can't support Palin." She now has an Obama sticker on her car. 1. I don't support policies she supports, including abstinence-only sex-ed (or lack thereof), anti-gay, and pro-life (even in cases of incest or rape including when those cases involve children) stances. These are major issues, in my opinion. (Again, I also think that someone with a pregnant daughter should support sex education! If it is due to religious purposes as you suggested, that leads me to number two-) 2. She is too evangelistic. She belongs to a rather severe church (who damns just about everyone), and wanted creationism taught in schools. She has been quoted as saying her "constituents had better be right with God!" Or else what? And really, whose God? Her God? I'm all set with that, thanks! I have my own God, and it is definitely not hers! Anyone who would allow their extremist faith to interfere with the decisions they make for the greater good of a nation is not someone I would like to see with the capability and power of leading our country. 3. Speaking of power, I don't like that she is currently being investigated for abuse of power. (Troopergate) She also made an attempt to fire a Wasilla librarian because the librarian would not remove some books from the library, and therefore didn't support her. 4. I also don't like that she supports and offers incentives for aerial hunting. There is nothing "sporty" about killing a living creature that never had a chance. I consider this inhumane. Relatively recently, her Dept. of Fish and Game pulled 14 wolf cubs from a den and shot each one in the head. They said it was the humane thing to do, because their parents had been shot and killed by aerial hunters a couple weeks prior. A true hunter respects the lives they take. (And to think she spent $400,000 to fund propaganda "educating" Alaskans about it, even though they voted twice against it!!) 5. I perceive her as being virulently callous- Anyone who passes the cost ($300-1200) of forensic rape kits to the victim's health insurance/the victims themselves (like she did while mayor of Wasilla) is worthy the title in my book. ("Sarah Barracuda" is right!!). 6. Alaska receives more earmarks per capita than any other state, despite being the only state that has no income and no sales tax. (AK per capita: $506.34, Nat Avg: 51.19) From 2000 to 2003, Sarah Palin secured over $27 mil in earmarks, averaging $6.7 million in federal money every year for her town of about 9000 people. (Sends up a red flag coming from someone who calls themself an "earmark reformer.") In addition, she redecorated her office a couple times, with state money and billed taxpayers for 312 nights she spent in her own home throughout the first 19 months she spent in office as Governor, as a per diem allowance. Paying yourself to live at home- Frivolous spending? I think so!! 7. In her interview in Newsmax on 8/29/08, she stated that she doesn't attribute global warming to "being man-made." Because the evidence is stacked against her on this one (at least in the sense that we are a contributing factor), I would say this is someone uneducated and uninterested in learning about environmental issues of concern, and would not make the appropriate calls to seek out clean renewable energy and to preserve our planet. 8. I don't know why she is against protecting the polar bears and beluga whales, both animals decreasing in number in an area that she governs, but the idea that she would actively oppose AK marine biologists and federal scientists in protecting these species is beyond me. (Actually, I know why. She is a champion for big oil, and is afraid it will limit her abilities to exploit AK's oil.) 9. She supports oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I'm not against oil drilling in all cases, but it's titled "wildlife refuge" for a reason. 10. She supports the Alaskan Independence Party(which her husband belonged to for seven years). Their goal is to vote on whether Alaska should remain a part of the United States or not. Mind you, the founder was quoted as saying, "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." Come on. Seriously.
  • Not if my life depended on it.:(
  • Absolutely not. Executive experience? Ask her why she SPENT 312 DAYS OF HER FIRST 19 MONTHS AS GOVERNOR ON PER-DIEM PAY, AT HOME, USING TAXPAYERS' MONEY. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090803088.html?hpid=topnews) Ask her why she and her staff are NOT COOPERATING WITH THE SUBPOENAS issued in the Troopergate Investigation. She may be criminalized for abuse of power. If she has nothing to hide, then why won't she cooperate? (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/17/palin.investigation/index.html) Ask her what the Bush Doctrine is. Again. She didn't even know what is was in her interview with Charles Gibson, and EVEN I KNEW WHAT IT WAS--and I sure as hell ain't qualified to be a VP or President. Obama does not have "executive experience" BUT he has four years in the US Senate and he's DAMN SMART (they don't just let anybody be the president of the Harvard Law Review). It would be a lot harder to use him as a puppet, because he's smart enough to know when he's being manipulated! Palin could and would easily be used as a neocon/corporate puppet if she was to inherit the presidency. She's not smart enough to know any better.
  • She's probably ruthless enough to run the country... that, as far as I can tell, is her only qualification.
  • I think I'd rather have someone with experience as both a mayor and governor than someone as a senator and "community organizer" (whatever that is).
  • I don't think so.
  • She is an embarrassing excuse for a politician and I bet the whole world is laughing at us for even considering her. so no
  • She can't even run her own household. While believing that abstinence only sex education is the key, her own family fails at that miserably. After giving birth to a Down Syndrome child, she decides that she wants to take on a campaign for the second most important job in the country. She's pretty selfish if you ask me. I'd love to hear what her family thinks of this...off the record.
  • We have no way of knowing. We never do. We elect 'em and pray for the best. Something happens to them when they're informed of the president's demise, suddenly it's not a game anymore. Truman was a complete nonentity yet he has been treated rather well by historians.
  • Let's see - She has no national experience, no foreign policy experience, and only two years in the governor's mansion. She is being investigated for corruption. Her religious beliefs seem to affect her decision-making in a huge way, and are out of touch with a large percentage of her constituents. Doesn't add up to a very pretty picture to me.
  • the bars been lowered considerably with bush jr. how much worse can she be? in my opinion, shes no mccain ~ shes an inexperienced governor from whocares alaska. she isnt prepared for the job. i dont think she could cut it. lets hope we never find out...
  • oh gawd no, she'd just be a female dubya
  • Personally, I do not think Palin has the experience to run the country.
  • She might, but the thought of her running the country...or the thought of people manipulating her while she pretends to run the country...scares me.
  • She has NO experience running this country if McCain dies... but Obama has NO experience at all.
  • No never. I can not trust someone who belonged to a political party that wanted Alaska to be independent from the United States, that makes me shiver. As far as I understand her husband still belongs to that party.
  • It is important to remember that unless you are running for re-election NO ONE has experience running the country. She will do fine.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • No. Not in a house, not with a mouse, not in a box, not with a fox. No, no, no. She might be a nice person, but she doesn't seem particularly honest or knowledgeable, or smart. Jeez, she makes even W seem smart. Call me crazy, but I'd like to think the POTUS is smart, open-minded, and possessed of at least a general understanding of history, law, the political process, and basic policy (at least enough to be able to intelligently communicate a position). How scary is it that most of the Tina Fey thing last week was a reenactment, not a parody? FREE LEVI!!!
  • This really sucks for Palin, because she's in WAY over her head. She was picked as a gimmick to rally the undecideds who really want to see a woman, and to shore up the religious base. She was not chosen because the GOP sees her as a viable replacement to the highest office in the free world. Wildly inept is an understatement. I'll go as far as to say that you don't need political experience to lead the country - in fact in some ways it may even be better if you haven't been in the system for very long. But I think you do have to be smart, and that is not something I can say about Mrs. Palin. Nice? Possibly. Passionate? Definitely. Charismatic? Eh, I can see it. Tina-Fey-like? Totally. But honestly, I'd rather have Tina Fey as VP. She strikes me as both savvier and smarter. One final thought: if McCain finds it OK to choose a gimmick VP to get liked, where will this end? Will we have Judge Judy on the Supreme Court? Hugh Laurie as the Surgeon General? Obviously I exaggerate a little bit to make a point, but not much. He clearly has his priorities wrong, or - more likely - is being the lapdog of his party. That's not the McCain that we knew eight years ago, who would have been a much more qualified president back then than Bush was. His party struck him down so he had to come around and do things their way. It's paid off so far, but it's really a shame to see McCain jumping through hoops in this circus.
  • No I do not. I hope on my life and those I love, that this does not happen. I will move to Canada to escape being associated with that woman as VP or President. Help us all. Do not vote for a ticket with Palin on it.
  • Ehem...hell no.
  • No. She scares the crap out of me. This country would be destroyed with her at the reins.
  • Only if Peta Wilson (LaFemme Nikita) plays the Sarah Palin role.
  • NO WAY!
  • I would support Palin just like I do Obama. They are given clean slates. You need to give them both chances
  • no, that would be a nightmare.
  • Thank God we don't have to contemplate the dreadful prospect of either one of them being in the driver's seat anymore!
  • Maybe we'll find out about her ability to lead in 2013
  • Are you insane?
