Of course. And the reaction to 9/11 reminds me of the danger of reactions.
-
I am reminded of "that" danger every day!
-
It reminds cowardliness of some sick minded people under the banner of some religion
-
Religion is not dangerous in of itself. It is the ones who convolute it to serve their own agenda who are dangerous. And if they did not use religion to further said agenda, they would use something else. And, unfortunately, there are those in most..if not all..religions/denominations.
-
Yes. Only religion provides a god for people to believe gives them permission to fight holy wars. Only religion provides heathen and unbelievers who are fair game. Only religion provides heavenly rewards for killing them. +5

yes it shows how a small number of people can cause a huge amount of death and destrection in the name of there god.

Reminds me of the danger of terrorism. "And what motivates the world's most dangerous terrorists?" Revenge, greed, the terrorist's illusory belief that destroying other peoples' lives will better his. Political ideologies. A yearning to somehow escape the third world's deplorable poverty. Ignorance. Lust for power. The list goes on. Whatever the reason, the world's most dangerous terrorists are not motivated by a love for the Creator.
-
No, it reminds me of the danger of neo-imperialism.

I agree with Rudeboy's answer about the dangers of imperialism. However, suicide attacks, which are much harder to combat than other forms of terrorism, are nearly always religious. If you think you're headed straight to the perfect afterlife, you won't mind blowing yourself up. Plus you get a free pass from your god for the collateral damage and the death wish. Religion is also dangerous in its ability to convince already-unbalanced people to commit deranged acts. The unreligious will be a lot less sure about life after death and will have a corresponding bit more self-preservation. The only exception to this rule that I can think of is the Kamikaze phenomenon in WWII, although that wasn't terrorism but warfare.
-
No, but it makes me very aware of the dangers of politics, particularly, in the wrong hands
-
Only of the man-made aspects of religion, and only when they are directed towards destruction and not towards reconciliation. It wasn't religion that financed the terrorists that day; it was very much a human effort.
