  • No. Meat makes you fart more, but the natural fermentation process of fruits and veggies makes fruit and veggie farts smell worse. It is the more noticeable smell that leads people to think that they make you more gaseous.
  • Internal gas is actually caused be the mixing of protiens and carbohydrates. My experience is that if you eat one, either protiens or carbohydrates,at a meal you won't have this problem. The combination of the two cause digestion to take longer and causes fermentation.
  • If you suddenly began eating a lot more fruit and veg than you normally did, you might find that you fart a bit more than usual. But this will only last for a couple of days, and then you won't fart half as much as you did before you starting eating more fruit and veg. Eat more fruit and veg....it's very good for you.
  • Gas is caused by tow things. Air pockets in the food you eat and fermentation by bacteria in your colon of food you yourself do not digest (but which the bacteria do). Beans, onions and some other foods contain indigestible carbohydrates that colonic bacteria ferment - and this is the main cause of gas. Smelly gas is caused by the presence of sulphur compounds in your food (like onion) and result in gases like H2S and mercaptans (which are very smelly).
