I had a coil fitted years ago and i thought it came out shortly after as i had a heavy period i have never been able to get pregnant could it still be there i have smear tests at the doctors would they see it if it was still there.

The coil is siuated just above the cervix. Generally you will have a period if you're egg has been fertilized by sperm. This causes the uterus lining to come away.

Normally the uterus lining is constantly disturbed by the coil, but if you conceive the lining is left to develop slightly, and you have a period.

I don't think there is any risk of the coil falling out, but if you wanted to check then go and see you doctor or sexual health person abut it
