Why does everyone make such a big deal about the eiffel tower? why is it so special?

Its just one of the things to see in the world i suppose. The same lines as Tower of Pisa, Big Ben, and the Great Wall of China.

Well, first of all, it was supposed to be torn down 20 years after it was put up, so it's good it's still here. And it's in Paris, romance, yadayada. Designed by the famous Gustav Eiffel, who designed the Statue of Liberty (there are actually 3 of them I think). Actually, it's a little weird so many people like it because at first the French supposedly thought it was ugly, though I doubt they think so today.
