It's a horrible horrible book about how when people are removed from society and thrown into unfamiliar territory, laws, rules, and society break down, and people are reduced to barbaric instincts with one and only one thought: Survival at all costs. And I hated every line of it.

its about children who are stuck on an island. they form their own government and rule over the weak kids. the bullies are in charge. one kid loses his glasses and his life.

It's a great book, about the sources of power in society as seen through the lives of a group of young boys trapped on an island without adults and without Law. It reads quickly, or if you want to chew over the philosophy you can take your time. - This is a very important book, and every future citizen should read it.

I liked it. Ignore what those other people said about it. A plane crashes and some kids wash up on an island and try to survive and they form their own feeble idea of government and there is a conch that people must have to speak. It's just what life might be like on a deserted island.

The book was a fictious look at how children without adult supervision would resort back to their primordial instincts in order to survive, and children being gregarious creatures would form into gangs and or packs.

I had a Captain in the Army who gave out copies of the book to a whole Company. Those of us who read it understood how it related to life and the potential of our positions in the Army.

there is an episode of the simpsons about it! haha. i have not read it, but i would really like it.

The Lord of the Flies is about society's boundries and rules, but also about kids being thrown into an unfamiliar world and dealign with it in the way they think is best. One of the first things that they do on the island is establish who's in charge, yet they don't even know what the island holds or even whether they will survive. A must read, even if you don't like the sound of my description.

It's a terribly boring book which supposedly explores society, but is really about a bunch of really annoying kids who are on an island, and they fight a bit and then one kid has some sort of trip and sees a pigs head talking to him
