  • Did you check with your regular doctor? With a specialist? When I was young, I had a bike accident where I "sprained my shoulder". No splint, but I didn't have the range of motion without pain. After a couple of months, it was still bothering me, so we got an x-ray. Nothing. And it got better after that. (May have been psychological, but it sure didn't FEEL that way.) Also when I was young, I "sprained" my ankle eight miles from the end of a 22 mile Boy Scout hike. A week later I still couldn't put weight on it. X-rays showed nothing, and ortho surgeon said all they could do was exploratory surgery. We didn't go for that. Spent most of the rest of my life unable to stand for more 6 hours or so, or my ankle would KILL me the next day for a few days. They never did figure it out, but a guy told me the ligament may have gotten trapped in the joint. By that time, it would have split and grown right into the bone. More recently, I fell, and my knee wouldn't work. Went to ER by ambulance. I was told nothing was broken in my knee (correct, far as bones go), and that I had probably traumatized it. ER sent me home in a splint that wasn't really strong enough. My PCP looked at the X-rays and didn't see anything. A few days later, I fell again, and still couldn't raise my lower leg off the ground. Turns out I tore the quad tendon from the kneecap. Took an Orthopaedic Surgeon, an MRI, and a few weeks to figure that one out. See a specialist, or at LEAST your family doctor.
