Do you think that the USA is a little short on nude beaches? In Germany - or Europe overall -it is absolutely the choice of the visitors. Are you PRO or CONTRA?

I just googled it and checked it out. Lonely numbers, i can tell you. Most people have no idea that ethics on Nudist Beaches are high, nobody stares at bodies, nobody cares about individual minuses or plus'es. When you are in a forest, do you look intensly at one tree???

who cares what people do at nude beaches - if we wanted more, we will designate more - there is no inherent goodness in a nude beach - you're advocating something not many people want

Have you been in Scandinavia? We have been one over there with our travel trailer we owned in Germany ( also in Norway and Sweden). It was divided from the "normal" beach strip by a short fence. I am from Germany, here since 1984. Long before that I heard people talking about it. I personally saw only topless girls. I will research that further, maybe I was too sure about it.

For some reason I don't associate Scandinavia with beaches or sunbathing - I have never been to Scandinavia though.
We do have nudist beaches (one or two) in the UK, but they are private beaches.

Agreed, apart from Spain and private beaches I've never seen topless sunbathing. It's not the norm.

I have talked to several people about this, it seems to be my opinion only, and no one else agrees. I know rape is not her fault but it seems like if women kept their body covered they wouldn't be inadvertently saying "here I am" to the guys. Sometimes the wrong guys are watching, you never know who the rapists are. If women are lacking attention at home they need to figure out some other way to get attention other than arousing strangers. But its all about freedom to do what you want, which I am not against. I hope they all have fun doing whatever they want to do and not blame others when problems arise.

@zippie: You really do have no idea. NUNS get raped, OLD WOMEN get raped, YOUNG WOMEN get raped -- it's not about what someone is wearing, it's about the fact somebody is sick and controlling. Women do not provoke rape.

@zippie: you say: displaying nudity in public. Nudist Beaches make it clear where the borderlines are. If you step over that boderline or enter a fence, you agree with what you are about to see, it is everyone's choice. It has absolutely nothing to do with "sex" or related behavior.

I would comment on the rape part but that has been thoroughly... um, raped already.

but zippies other comments have been brushed over. I am very open about my body but I think that has guts to stand out there and say that it cheapens us. and even though Im open about it, i tend to agree.

Eventhough I asked that question, I am not a nudist, but I understand their principles because I am raised European and I am very interested in other cultures. I think nudism has more to do with a pagan religion, like a branch of it, which does not include me because I am not following any churches, clubs or associations.

People who are exposed to cold weather hardly feel cold, and people who are exposed to healthy nudity from childhood on, hardly have the urges to clash with society in any form, or even buy pornographic magazines, just to see naked women.

In my experience and i do have alot. Nudism in the United States (and this doesnt go for everyone so please dont take it personal) is all about boobs and butts.

There may not be too many nude beaches, but there are quiet a few nude resorts which are quiet nice.

Most nudist men i know, if they look for a friend to go to nude places (like a beach) they only look for female friends to accompany them. if it was true just about the nude act, then it wouldnt matter about the friend.

I do whole heartedly agree that nudism probably does have more to do with pagan origins, but i would say thats not why nudists do what they do. most probably dont even know that.

dear atreyu, I appreciate your insight, which is grounded on USA experiences. I have family members in Germany and have personal experiences in Europe, which differs greatly from yours. Nakedness is a natural environment in some households and on beaches. I never saw a bias look or heard a curious remark from anybody.
