A wonderful martial artist, brought much of the arts to the attention of the world. He was also one of the first of his kind to defend the idea that martial arts could be taught to anyone and was the first to speak up about the importance of grappling and adding fitness training to your regular martial arts practices. If you like Bruce Lee, do a little research on Tony Jaa, I swear he is Bruce Lee incarnate.

I think Bruce Lee was, in his time, at his peak, amazing and that he introduced the beauty of martial arts to society. I enjoy his style(s) of fighting and patterns. (actually I should say "enjoyed" because he is no longer alive.) There are a good many superb martial artists but I think if you were to ask anyone if they had heard of Bruce Lee, all would say yes. Our awareness of this art is what he left us with.

I think that he was an icon of my generation but overated as an expert. He caught the worlds attention at the right time. I do enjoy the legend though.

besides simply breaking taboo barriers of teaching ancient fighting styles to westerners, bruce lee was a very eloquent and punk rock speaker. if you haven't heard him interviewed i suggest you look for some interview footage (youtube?) because it'll add another dimension to an icon that is usually just seen as an archetype for the asian karate man.

very few of his contemporary peers (jet li, jackie chan)can measure up to the depth of thought and charisma bruse had off of the screen.

He was great, but he was TOO great. And because he was so great, people became jealous or greedy (or whatever) and eventually had him killed. Although he died of some brain problem, I think he was probably drugged and murdered.

Broke so many barriers in every aspect of his life. Taught Kung Fu to anyone willing to learn against the mainstream of the day. He was a true dragon, mastering anything he pursued. He put forth 100% in everything he became involved with including acting. Had some strong opinions and stuck to them. He was a philosophy major making him both warrior and poet in my eyes, the perfect balance of mind and body. I cannont think of more than a handful of others that reached the level of ming/body harmony that Bruce Lee achieved. Very much an idol of mine.
