People being what they are, it's dangerous to let them alone at any time, much less "armed". Which is why we have the right to bear arms, to protect ourselves from the ones who might be dangerous to us. You could just as well make the argument that it's dangerous to let them have opinions, or alcohol. No, best to let them have the weapons, and even the alcohol, but hold them accountable for their actions, and insist that the alcohol sellers also bear some responsibility if they oversell their product. Let's see if we can prove Heinlein's theory that "an armed society is a polite society". If people actually considered that anyone they give offense to may be armed, they might rethink their behavior.
