It origonates from the bible, the source of all christian mythology.

- I'm unclear as to how this means St. Peter waits at the pearly (or golden) gates: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Do you mean 16:19?

- Yes I did sorry but the first part of it goes as well if you read 16 :18 and 16: 19 consecutively it all fits.

Ever since Jesus gave him the Keys to the Kingdom. Where else would they be used?

Well, Folks, I don't suppose you now know, at all, that it was Peter, the apostle, himself, who gave those Keys of the Kingdom into the hands of the Prophet Joseph Smith, back in about 1829; do you??
The Keys, since that time, have been handed down from prophet to prophet in the restored Church of Jesus Christ. Currently, they reside in the hands of one, Thomas Stephen Monson; but who's to say in whose hands they will ultimately finish by the time the Lord comes again to receive His Kingdom here??
Despite the analogy, I think you'll find that, ultimately, it will be Jesus Christ, Himself, who will actually personally welcome each person into the Kingdom of Heaven, one by one. So, assuming we have a lot to save, we are going to be there a very long and patient time, witnessing all of this.

- You might then well say, Most Anti-one, that it would carry about as much Direct applicability as I've seen most of your prior comments carry concerning matters I've been addressing.
  Unlike you, though, I stand corrected!
  I thought, though, it was of passing interest or application to the general topic, because Peter, obviously now, no longer carries those keys to the gate.
