Help answer this question below.
Yes I am ... How did you know? Don't look for it anytime soon, I've been at it for awhile. I don't get the kind of time I'd like to work on it, so it'll be some time yet, before I start getting and ignoring, rejection notices. Even if it doesn't get published, the experience will be well worth the effort ... yeah, right! lol
Yes, I actually have the first draft of one finished and I'm working on rewriting and editing it. I've also got literally dozens of other unfinished stories sitting around on my hard drive, that could potentially turn into books if I ever get them finished.
Yupper! I'm on the second book of a series...with a possible third one in the works too.
And a Children's book part way done, on the back burner while I'm into the Adult Fantasy/History/Romance deal.
Yep. lol. Been writing for a bit, but I'm doing my best not to overthink it too much. Have an extensive plot layed out, and I don't always like it 100%, but I figure that's what the second draft is for. I'm writing ALL of my ideas down so I can play with them later. It's funny, but I forgot how much I actually enjoyed writing as a kid.... before it was force fed down my throat in school. :) Let's see if I can actually get it published someday....
I'm thinking of writing one, but the thought of "who would really read this aside from me and my family" prevents me from actually writing one.
Yes. The question is, "Am I finishing?"
I've been trying to for the last couple of months. Sometimes I write about three pages that I think are really good, but when I read it over, I think, "Oh, man, this is horrible." And then I start over.
I did many years ago, and it remains unpublished. I guess the American public isn't so ready for a guy who lives as far from reality as I.
Actually, yes. But I have been slacking. I've only gotten about five chapters written and I've been working on it for a few years.
I wrote a 'book' when I was nine. It was brilliant, I even illustrated it. If I remember right it was about rabbits.
I think it might have been the worst three page book by a nine year old girl ever to be written. My mum liked it, though.
But seriously, I am not. I used to do the short story thing. Poems and stuff. But then I just sort of realised I'm not actually that good. And it was time to give up on the whole 'I want to be a writer and study English' thing, and go and do some computing homework. Which kills me. But hell, it's something.
Um. Kinda. I have the plot and main idea but no characters yet. I'm just getting started.
Yes ... an autobiography ... about the path to becoming a martial arts grand master.
Yes, I am writing a cookbook.
vaguely. a collection of short stories I'd like to get published eventually.
I almost wrote one, but I gave it up for some reason . . .
Yes, it's about you. I was planning to surprise you, but since you've asked I had to tell.
:)
yes
I have done. I actually signed a contract for one once, and then the company folded. Sig.
Still working on getting my stuff published.
Yes. I'm working (very slowly) on a fantasy story for children. I also want to write a non-fiction book. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Pizza Ordering, or Pizza Ordering for Dummies, or Everything You NEED to Know About Ordering Pizza.
I'm thinking of writing one.
I'm going to call it, The Lion Tamer by Claud Balls!
i'm thinking about one in the future about my different views on stuff, and random info about past and stuff.
hahaha.
its fun to start and hard to finish....but all in all the experience is the best
yes. im writing a seres. ive already wrote 3 and im working on the 4th. i want to get them published soon, but im waitingfor the fourth before that.
Yeah! I am planning to write one on the topic of men women relationship, However, the language of the my book would be Urdu and source language of the materials of my books would be English. I have already started to collect and information and on the topics. Would you please send me any information i.e. link for any good article on the topic?
Yes--I have published one non-fiction book and one novel. My second novel is being edited by the publisher right now, and I am writing a third one.
yes. in fact im working on one of them right now. i am working on fiVE FOR THE TIME BEING BUT I PLAN ON MORE EVEN THOUGH I AM ONLY 12. I AM COFiDENT that i can reach my goal with a little hard work.
I've got the idea. i just have to write down!!!
yes... my first one... along with making a first album and first screenplay... since i spend most of my time answer bagging though it will be tough to tell which will release first if any
it's called jesus told me to hate gays
Although if it gets published that would mean i'm on page 76 since the paper i'm using is about twice the size of book paper.
Yes! I'm still a kid but Christopher Paolini was basically a kid when he wrote Eragon, so that inspires me! I'm on page 38 and the book will be 300 pages long! Wish me luck!!
On you. WATCH OUT!!!!
Yes! I really like this one. I've wrote novels before but never really had confidence in my abilities, and deleted them before I had a chance to find out whether they would have been read.
I am, and I am hoping that I can finish my novel very soon.
In my mind I do sometimes. I have yet to write it down.
Yep....started a few months back. My ex told me I couldn't do it. I told him to kiss my ass I was gonna prove him wrong. Don't ever tell me I can't do something. Someone once told me I would never teach myself how to play guitar either. Booyah!! In yo face...did that too!
No, but I want to.
I wanted to write one.... called...
"I'm not coming out of my trailer until..."
Yes, I work in the film industry. Bloody Actors..hmmp
Yes, with serious ideas for two more. :)
Yep, actually a few of them. I would invite all of you to go to www.nanowrimo.org The yearly challenge to write 50,000 words during the month of November.

I've a book with a publishers at the moment: 'Memoires from the Black House'. I've another completed book and am curently halfway through a third.
That is my standard answer for new acquaintences who want to know everything about me.
No, but I am drawing the pictures for a children's book currently.

Whether you get published or not i still see writing a book as an achievement, and yes, definately an experience be it good or bad!
by lippy1 on September 9th, 2008
Thanks lippy, I will keep at it. By the way, its a novel ... a thriller, and purely fiction.

How'd you learn so much about writing anyways? Just extremely observant??
by Trissinger on September 29th, 2009
I don't know that I do, but I'm one of those people that analyzes everything (probably too much sometimes) So even when I'm reading a story, I'm trying to get into the author's head... finding methods that I like and want to accomplish, and problems that I want to avoid. (like when I go nuts with commas) In reading Cornwell's book, I noticed she has the same problem (in my opinion) In Poe's day, that was fine.. but I think modern writing needs to flow a little easier. There's a lot more to distract a reader these days, so I don't think really long complex sentences work as well anymore.
by Kravenhead on September 29th, 2009
So I guess I'm just trying to identify, and mimic, what the current successful people are doing. It's nice of you to say what you did, but I'm just learning as I go... playing by ear. Hopefully with enough rewrites, I'll have something fun to read.
by Kravenhead on September 29th, 2009
You certainly have this ability to learn through unconventional sources. I'm totally amazed at your painting abilities without any formal training. And you don't have a need to ask for advice about how to structure your book --- you go ahead and do it. (Maybe your new nickname should be 'Nike.') Where did your confidence come from to not only attack creative problems that need a resolution but to know how to go about it, as well? Your mother's or father's side? (...I guess I'm just 'full of questions' tonight!...) ':)
by Trissinger on September 30th, 2009
It's probably more like stubbornness than confidence... I figure with enough trial and error, I'm bound to stumble across something that works. That's always been fun for me. I've just always been more comfortable learning in my own way.. and when I wanted to learn. My Dad was the chief engineer for a corp.... maybe that's where the analytical streak came from. I'll probably never really excel at anything, but I'll have tested a variety of interesting things.

A real 'investigative mindset' in your family --- what were dinner conversations like? Must have been fascinating... :)
by Trissinger on October 2nd, 2009
We never really had much in the way of serious discussions at the table. They usually centered around our activities of the day and what's coming up.... how gymnastics went, or did my sister practice with her accordion. That was probably by design.. better for the digestion to keep things light.
by Kravenhead on October 3rd, 2009
Oh! Was her playing THAT bad? You must have mentioned her, but older or younger sister? (?)
by Trissinger on October 4th, 2009
Ha! No, she was actually pretty good; traveled around the country a bit doing recitals... just no serious discussions at the table. :)

Love to hear more about her K. Where's she at now, in life? Maybe in 'rivers?' ...

(Again, I somehow hadn't realized you'd put anything down here... )
Those family meals. On occasion, my mother would leave instructions for me to make supper. I'd look all over the kitchen for the ingredients and would never find them. Then in frustration, I'd finally see a little stack of those same ingredients in a spot visible enough right on the counter top nearby.
This would happen over & over again & still happens to me today, if someone asks me to do something & puts the things together for me. ':) Go figure...!
by Trissinger on October 13th, 2009
It's weird how that can happen. I have a lantern that my dad and I would use fishing. I needed it for something, so I looked where I thought I'd put it.... nope, not there. I looked all over the house and finally, after checking that spot one more time, gave up for the night. Several months later I passed by that spot... and there it was... Hmmmmm. =0[]
by Kravenhead on October 15th, 2009
Yeah, but if you're not the only one living in the house, your Dad could potentially have had it elsewhere & then returned it to that spot, n'est pas? (Why do I suspect you're not convinced with that line! lol!!)
So you went fishing with your Dad? What great memories to have! Any especially memorable fishing trips? (And what's the largest fish you've ever caught, by the way...?) :D
by Trissinger on October 18th, 2009
Yes... I am the only one living in the house... it's just one of those things.. no connotation.
All my fishing expeditions with my dad were memorable... especially when he handed me the knife and explained, that (the fish) had to be "cleaned". I knew that he sensed my apprehention... my fear... my reluctance to sever the head, split the belly and pull out the entrails.
There was no satisfactory explanation for what I was doing.. only that, if I were to take them, there had to be purpose... food, and no other.
by Kravenhead on October 20th, 2009
Ah, I'd misunderstood the lantern occurrence --- I'd thought you'd meant that happened with the lantern when you still lived at home with your parents, at a young age. "Alles klar!" :) ("All clear!" --- Though not really, for how DID that lantern mysteriously reappear?? Are you going to use any devices like that in the book, K?)
Had your Dad fished since he was a young lad? (I'm guessing yes.) And your Dad taught you to not kill animals or fish merely for pleasure's sake, then, but also because of the food they provided. (Do you still vividly recall that first time you killed that fish? Maybe you can even picture the moment.)
by Trissinger on October 28th, 2009
Yeah, Greg will be making a fairly mysterious appearance... for better or worse..Can't give away too much). :)
I do remember the moment. We had dug up our own worms for bait, and when we came in from fishing it was getting dark. There was a fish cleaning house that was dark except for the lantern. It was a little like a large outhouse; a cutting counter had holes to push the "waste material" through, and the place was abuzz with flies.. It was a little spooky for a little shaver like myself.
by Kravenhead on November 23rd, 2009
Man, I was like "Little Miss 21 Questions" above, wasn't I? (As I ask another question...) You named your lantern Greg. :) :)
"...a little shaver like myself" --- Did you create that expression? Got a few 'little shavers' of my own... generally very kind, but boy, with lots of 'baggage.' (It can be tough when you see little ones holding so much pain --- I really feel for them. Well, that's all about that for now --- takes getting used to, when an idea's new to one, eh?)
by Trissinger on November 24th, 2009
Ha! No the lantern doesn't have a name, and I know where it is... I think. You'll have to tell me more about your Shavers..
by Kravenhead on November 28th, 2009
"You'll have to tell me more about your Shavers.." --- Well... I did. Check your EM.
by Trissinger on November 30th, 2009
